Minamoto Yoshitsune Hiyodori by Utagawa Toshitora 1840s
  • Minamoto Yoshitsune Hiyodori by Utagawa Toshitora 1840s

Utagawa Toshitora produced numerous prints during the 1840s, many of which were "musha-e (warriors' painting)." This print depicts the descent of Minamoto Yoshitsune and a small group of mounted warriors down a steep cliff in a surprise attack on a Taira stronghold.

The print is highly detailed, with identification by name of Yoshitsune's warriors.

The overall preservation condition of the print's paper is poor. The paper is in delicate condition.

However, the multi-colors and extremely numerous details, make this print quite valuable. Once framed, the print will maintain its current condition for a lengthy period.
